Poll reveals top 5 songs that empower women

As part of their #DrivingForChange campaign, M6toll have conducted a nationwide poll to find out what the women of the UK consider to be the best empowerment driving songs, and the results are in.

The M6toll’s #DrivingForChange campaign comes as an extension to their HerGV competition which launched in 2017 to encourage females to break the glass ceiling, and address gender inequality within the haulage industry. Now that their campaign has evolved, M6toll are keen to encourage women to empower themselves and bring about real change.

The poll, which was conducted via the M6toll’s Twitter and Facebook pages, asked women to vote for their favourite empowering driving tracks. Once the votes were in, M6toll added the results to their #DrivingForChange Spotify playlist.

Maxine Estevez, press officer at M6toll said, “We’ve had a phenomenal amount of support so far for our #DrivingForChange campaign, and we can only hope that more people will get involved and bring about change for today’s working woman”.

The nation’s top 5 empowerment songs as voted for via the M6toll’s #DrivingForChange polls are:

  1. Alicia Keys – Girl on Fire
  2. Cindi Lauper – Girls Just Want To Have Fun
  3. Lady Gaga – Born This Way
  4. Katy Perry – Roar
  5. Shania Twain – That Don’t Impress Me Much

According to a study by the RHA, only 1% of HGV drivers within the UK are women, and the 8% of women in other roles within the industry is a poor representation. Last year, the M6toll’s HerGV campaign awarded Emma Walker, from Stockton-on-Tees, a prize package worth over £3,000; including HGV training from industry leaders, Pertemps Driver Training, and guidance from some of the most influential women within the HGV industry. P D Portcentrics Logistics, based in Billingham, also offered the winner a work placement upon completion of her training. The firm now want to continue their campaign into 2018 in the hope that they can empower women to fiercely enter the HGV world, and any male dominated industry, as equals and without prejudice.
